1) Type up your feedback in full including the ratings out of five for each of the categories.

  1. Research (through presentation and blog) - 5
  2. Tv drama concept (crime genre) - 4
  3. Language: terminology and theory - 4
  4. Representations - 4
  5. Audience and Industry - 4
  6. Delivery - 4
Total out of 30 - 25

  • Brilliant title - tagline a little too long
  • Presentation is great superb found images and lack of text on slides puts focus on your explanation
  • Narrative is interesting and location should work week - do you have a specific setting in mind?
  • Netflix works - good points on industry and similar shows
  • Good to see narrative theory in there and the conflict driving the narrative
  • Careful with the gun prop! You can't use that i n an external location ( or can imply it without showing it)
  • Fantastic subversion of gender stereotypes with application of theory - van Zoonen and Gauntlett
  • Interesting on race/diversity but may need to develop this or explain further in your statement of intent.
  • Good to see theory mentioned - though perhaps Gilroy would work better?
  • Audience addressed in final slide to complete an incredibly impressive presentation.Perhaps only question is a more specific breakdown of the three min extract
  • Q + A handled well, adding value and explaining extract perfectly.

2) Use this feedback, comments from peers and your own reflection on your presentation to self-assess and write your own detailed WWW and EBI for your coursework concept and presentation as a whole.

WWW
  • presentation itself went really well,
  • covered most of the brief,
  • Good use of theory
  • presentation itself flowed the the different point,
  • able to link throughout

EBI
  • diegetic sound is in the brief - dialogue
  • adding Gilroy as a theory would work better
  • have a more specific breakdown of the three min
  • talk about how the challenges faced because of your location will be an issue and how you are going to overcome it
  • be more detailed about the diversity of your cast

3) Write a paragraph discussing how your presentation will lead into your actual coursework production. Do you need to update your statement of intent? Does your concept offer enough clarity? Is it appropriate for the audience specified in the brief? Is it achievable to film with the resources you have available? Can you add media terminology or theory to your statement of intent now you have reflected on your presentation and seen others?

After my presentation and all the feedback given to me, I just need to tweak up my statement of intent in terms of the diegetic sound and how I am going to using dialogue throughout my three minute extract. I also need to be more specific of what camera angles I am going to be using and how certain shots are going to reflect the plot itself in terms of the characters emotions and how they are showcasing those feelings. In terms of the location, I need too add how they are public places and how I am going o overcome some of the challenges regarded such as the my use of a gun prop in public, ensuring that I don't get into trouble over it meaning be aware of my surroundings and not cause disruption to others. To add to this I also need to speak on how lighting is going to play a crucial part Overall I just need to add some more points into my statement of intent and also just be more detailed in certain areas.
