Preliminary exercise learner response

 Preliminary exercise learner response

1) Type up your teacher's feedback in full plus a summary of the comments you received from other students in the class.

  • Almost works like a trailer for your drama - I like it!
  • Dialogue scene works well with a range of  interesting camera shots and angles. I particularly like the shot through the leaves.
  • Audio is good in places but not consistent - an important lesson for the main production. Lesson here is to use the main audio track from first clip then overlay other visuals.
  • Music, branding and title all work well.
  • I like the self - referential dialogue!

2) Using a combination of your own reflection on the preliminary exercise and the feedback you were given, write three WWW bullet points and three EBI bullet points for your work.

WWW

  • good script
  • music at the end fits well with crime drama genre
  • variety of camera shots
EBI
  • background noise
  • quality is a bit off
  • the sound as quite at parts

3) How effectively did you complete the objective you laid out in your mini preliminary exercise statement of intent?

In terms of my shot list I did cover as much as I could, in terms of angles. Setting and characters diversity were also met.

4) What have you learned from the preliminary exercise that will help you in the actual coursework project?

I have to work on my sound quality, making sure that the dialogue is evident to hear and not patch. Alongside this I also need to work on the different elements of mise-en-sene by really enhancing those crim drama conventions.

5) Now you have completed the preliminary exercise, will you change anything about your actual coursework video plan? This could include your concept, cast/actors and narrative or technical elements such as mise-en-scene, camerawork or editing.

Mise-en-scene and camerawork need to really justify this, because of some circumstances I was unable to produce what I had originally planned, I hope to learn from these mistakes and produce a much better quality product.
